Chalk

Chalk is the game that I pitched to be one of the Final Games projects at USC.  It was a finalist, but did not make the final cut (what can you do?).  I designed and pitched the game, while organizing a team to help me build a prototype to show during my pitch.

Chalk is the story of Cody, a chalk boy that was given a special treasure chest by his parents and told to guard it with his life. One day, the evil Hypnotist sends his robot minions to steal it, and Cody is helpless in defending it from them. After it is gone, Cody’s lifetime companion robot, Unit 3000-21, reveals to him that he was built to help him get the chest back should it be stolen. He then gives Cody a mask that allows Cody to manipulate and use chalk. However, he cannot recollect the chalk once he has used it. Only Unit 3000-21 can recollect the chalk that Cody has used by vacuuming it up.

Gameplay consists of Cody using chalk to fight and defeat enemies, while also defending Unit 3000-21 who is necessary to collect used chalk.  Chalk is a limited resource in the game, so without Unit 3000-21 vacuuming the chalk up, Cody would not have any chalk to use.

(the game was pitched as “Me and My Wobot” because a teacher said “Chalk” wasn’t a searchable game name… Chalk is so much better!!!)
